Transport infrastructure

Derbyshire's central location and excellent transport networks make it one of the easiest places in the UK to access by road, rail or air. Eighty per cent of the UK population is within four hours drive. The county is criss-crossed by major arterial routes including the M1, A50 and A38 linking north to south and east to west.

Access to airports

Derbyshire has four international airports on its border.

East Midlands Airport is the second largest freight hub in the UK and sits just south of Derbyshire on the interchange between the A50 and the M1 between Derby and Nottingham.

UPS, DHL, TNT and Royal Mail are all based at the East Midlands Airport and give great exporting opportunities, particularly to the European markets.

There are a number of major employment sites along the M1 and A50 corridors which are within easy access to the airports listed.
